教学过程

Step 1 Pre-reading

1.       Greeting and self-introduction

T: Good morning ,boys and girls

S: Good morning, Miss Li.

T: Great. You know my family name. What else do you want to know? You can ask me. Maybe my  English name, my hobbies, what I can do …

Ss ask questions

2. Let’s watch

T: I like watching films.Let’s watch a video.

Ss watch the video

T: What’s the video about?

Ss : Birthday.

T: Yes. They’re having a birthday party for mommy pig. I have a party on my birthday too and my birthday is in November. When’s your birthday?

S: My birthday is in ...

3. Let’s learn

T: We have lots of activities on our birthday. Now listen to me carefully and find what I do on my birthday?

My birthday is in November.

On that day,

I eat a birthday cake

I play games with my friends.

I have a birthday party.

I have a nice day.

T: What do I do on my birthday? Do you remember?

S: You eat a birthday cake, play games with your friends and have a party.

learn “have a party”, “a birthday cake”,  “play games”...

T: Great. What about you? What do you do on your birthday? Try to make a chant like me. OK?

Step 2 While reading

1. Look and predict

T: Look, Miss Li and her students are talking about birthday. Whose birthdays are they talking about?

S: Su Hai and Mike.

T: What can they talk about? Please discuss in groups of four.

Ss: They can talk about birthday dates, the birthday party ,...

2. Watch and check

T: Now let’s watch the cartoon and find the answers.

Ss watch and check

T: They talk about the dates and the activities of the birthday.

3. Listen and answer

T: When are Su Hai and Su Yang’s birthday? When is Mike’s birthday? Let’s listen to the tape.

S1: Su Hai and Su Yang’s birthday are on the eleventh of May.

S2Mike’s birthday is on the eighth of April. (Ss learn “eleventh” and “eighth”)

Tip: When we talk about a specific day, we should use “on”.

4. Read and underline

T: What do Su Hai and Su Yang do on their birthday? Read the story by yourselves and underline the things they do. You can check your answers with your friends.

Ss read on their own. Ss check the answers in groups.

Ss report in class.

5.  Let’s imitate

T: Now, let’s read after the tape.

Ss read page 78 after tape.

6. Try to say

T: What about Mike? What does Mike do on his birthday? Please look at the pictures and use your own words to introduce Mike’s birthday.

Ss try to show Mike’s birthday on their own.

7. Read and order

T: You have good imaginations. Look, what’s this?

S: It’s an envelop.

T: What’s in it?... these are the activities of Mike’s birthday, but they’re not in right order. Please take out your envelope and read these sentences in groups. Try to order the sentences and stick on the paper. Take turns to read them after you’re done.

T: What does Mike do on his birthday.

Ss read and stick

Invite students to show and read their results.

T: What does Mike do? Can you find all the activities?

Ss: have a party, buy a birthday cake, eat the birthday cake, play games

7. Let’s read

T: Now, it’s reading time. Please choose a way you like to read the story. If you have more time, you can take turns to role-play.

 

Step 3 After-reading

1. Think and say

T: You know the story very well. Can you look at the pictures and the key words to retell the story.  If you choose one to talk about, you can get one star. If you can introduce both of them, you can get two stars. You can prepare in pairs. Don’t forget to use the adverbs.

Ss do pair work.

Ss report.

2. Let’s think

T: Today is Thursday, the fourth of June. Today we will have a super lucky kid. We will design a birthday party for him! Whose birthday is in June?

T: Let’s draw lots to find the kid.

T: Great! You are the lucky boy/ girl today. Can you say something about your birthday?

You can ask him/her some questions to get more information.

Ss: When’s your birthday? What food do you like? Do you like ...?

T: OK. Now, Please work in a group of four and make a birthday plan for them. please work in groups of four and introduce your plan.

Ss work in groups.

Ss take turns to report in class.

Ask the students whose birthday is in June to evaluate their plans.
